TERMS & CONDITIONS

Before participating in the Grant, you must read these Terms and Conditions (hereinafter the "Rules") in their entirety, which governs Applicants’ participation in the Grant. By submitting an application to the Grant, each Applicant fully accepts and agrees to be bound by these Rules.

These Rules will be accessible at lorealdermatologicalbeauty.us/lrp/grantproposal throughout the duration of the Grants. These Rules will also be sent by post free of charge to any person upon request to the Organizer during the Duration of the Grants at the following address: [email protected].

There is no participation fee or purchase required to apply for the Grant. Applicants are solely responsible for all costs associated with preparing their Applications.

1. Grant Description

1.1 The purpose of this Grant is to empower young dermatologists by supporting their research projects. Our goal is to foster a deeper understanding of skin conditions and drive innovative, life-changing dermatological solutions that significantly improve the quality of life for patients. In 2026/2027 Grant cycle, La Roche-Posay will award a total of up to $50,000 to support these vital research endeavors.

2.DURATION AND GEOGRAPHICAL SCOPE OF THE PROCESS

Applications for the 2026/2027 Grant cycle are open to physicians in the United States and will be accepted from June 1, 2026, starting at 12:00 PM, to November 15, 2026, ending at 12:00 PM (hereinafter the "Application Deadline").

3. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

3.1. The Grant is open to individuals in the United States who meet all the following criteria as of the Application Deadline (hereinafter referred to as the "Applicant"):

  • Be a professional dermatologist, dermatology resident, or post-residency fellow currently active in their field. For clarity, "professional dermatologist" means holding a valid medical license (MD/DO) specializing in dermatology recognized by the US medical regulatory body.
  • Be in post-residency practice for 5 years or less
  • Be authorized by their local ethical code of conduct and the entity to which they belong (e.g., university or research center).

3.2. Applicants represent and warrant that they have obtained all necessary authorizations and fulfilled all notification requirements, including those from their institution, professional board, or other governing bodies, to legally participate in this Grant. The Organizer assumes no liability for any Applicant's failure to secure necessary approvals.

Applicants agree to immediately notify the Organizer of any decision or opinion from a competent authority that could affect their eligibility or participation. Applicants further represent that they are in full compliance with all legal provisions and professional regulations applicable to their activities, including those related to transparency and anti-gift practices, and that their participation is not prohibited in their jurisdiction. Applicants are responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance with these regulations, including any required disclosures to public websites, professional associations, or other entities.

3.3. Applicants must apply for funding for a research project (the “Project”) that encourages a better understanding of skin conditions and drives innovations to improve the quality of life for patients. Projects involving animal testing are not eligible to participate.

3.4. Employees, officers, directors, and agents of the Organizer and its affiliates, and their immediate family members (e.g., spouses, children, parents, and siblings) are not eligible to apply. Individuals involved in the organization, administration, or judging of this Grant are also ineligible.

3.5. Application will not be considered if Applicants do not meet the eligibility requirements set forth under this article. The Organizer reserves the right to refuse any application or to disqualify any Applicant at any time during the selection process at its sole discretion. Applicants who submit incorrect or misleading information, disregard these Rules, or engage in wrongful behavior, such as plagiarism, fabrication of data, or other unethical research practices, will be refused or disqualified from participation. Any established fraud or unfair action shall result in the Applicant's immediate and final disqualification, without prior notice.

4. Application Process

4.1. Applications must be filed and submitted online via the Organizer’s website located at https://www.lorealdermatologicalbeauty.us/lrp/grantproposal by the Application Deadline. Only Applications submitted through this designated US-specific portal will be considered.

4.2. For an Application to be considered by the jury, a single PDF document, comprising all requested information and documentation, and submitted in English, is required:

  • Research Plan: Maximum 8 pages. The scope of the project must be strictly limited to clinical research, excluding community service-based initiatives.
  • Budget
  • CV: Including email, phone, and mailing address.
  • Mentorship: A letter of support from a mentor or Chief of Dermatology.
  • Verification: Sample affidavit can be found in Terms & Conditions.

4.3. Applicants affirm that all information provided in their Application is true, accurate, and complete to the best of their knowledge. Any misrepresentation or omission of information may result in disqualification.

4.4. Only one Application per applicant will be accepted per year. Submission of multiple Applications by the same Applicant within a single year will result in automatic disqualification of all submitted Applications. Incomplete Applications or those with missing information will not be considered.

4.5. The Organizer is not responsible for errors in the entries of Applicants, malfunction of the site, incorrect e-mail addresses, or connection problems related to the Grant.

5. Selection of Winners and Award

5.1. Up to six (6) grant recipients (hereinafter, "Winners") will be selected by independent scientific committees appointed by the Organizer. These committees will be composed of prominent US dermatologists.

5.2. Each Application will be reviewed by a minimum of three times by 2 different jury members and evaluated using an objective scoring rubric that considers the following criteria:

  • Importance of the Research (Significance, Innovation)
  • Rigor and Feasibility (Approach)
  • Expertise and Resources (Investigator, Environment)
  • Application Quality: The clarity of the research objectives, the completeness and quality of the information provided, the strength of the research methodology, and the overall presentation of the Project.

The committees' decisions are final and non-appealable. To ensure impartiality, an applicant whose institution or department is affiliated with a jury member will not have their Application reviewed by that jury member.

5.3. The Organizer is responsible for ensuring compliance with these Rules and the accuracy of the Applications to determine the Winners. The Organizer shall also ensure that the Winners have met the conditions detailed in Articles 3 and 4 above.

5.4. Applications will be reviewed from November 9th, 2026, to December 18th, 2026. Winners will be notified by email at the address provided in their Application by the end January 2026. Following notification, Winners must provide the Organizer with the required personal information (name, surname, postal address) and a certificate of tax residence to facilitate the awarding of the grant. Failure to provide this information in a timely manner may result in forfeiture of the award, and the Organizer reserves the right to select an alternate Winner.

5.5. Each Winner will receive a grant (hereinafter the “Award”) to support their proposed Project. This Award is subject to applicable taxes and withholdings, which are the sole responsibility of the Winner. The amount of the Award shall be used by the Winner in the strict performance of the Project and the Organizer shall in no way be held responsible for any misuse or misallocation of the amount paid to the Winner.

5.6. The Award is non-transferable and may not be assigned to any individual other than the designated Winner.

6. Use of Award and Conduct of Research by Winners

6.1. The Awards must be used solely to support the primary research described in the Winner’s Applications and are not to be used for staffing, equipment not related to the research or go toward any indirect costs for the University. Any significant changes to the scope of the Project require the prior written approval of the Organizer.

6.2. Winners must conduct their Project in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines, including those pertaining to patient safety, data privacy, intellectual property rights, and obtaining informed consent from any participating patients. This informed consent must fully disclose the Project activities and the potential involvement of other healthcare professionals.

6.3. Winners shall provide the Organizer with regular Project updates, including photographs, videos, information on the Award's impact on the Project, and any publications resulting from the Project.

6.4. Winners must ensure that their Project does not infringe upon any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights.

6.5. Winners must adhere to the Organizer's strict prohibition on animal testing. No Award funds may be used for any research activities involving animal testing.

7. Communication of the Winning Projects

7.1. The Organizer reserves the right to publicize the winning Projects through various channels, including the press, social media, and the Organizer's website.

7.2. Winners are required to ensure prominent display of the La Roche-Posay Research Grants logo on all publications, presentations, and other materials stemming from the funded research, including websites and online publications, to ensure transparency regarding the funding source. Logo usage guidelines will be provided by the Organizer. Other than for the purposes expressly stated herein, the Winner shall not use the name and/or logo of La Roche-Posay or the Organizer without prior written consent, except where required by law or regulation.

7.3. Winners agree to share their research findings and experiences with other medical professionals at scientific conferences and meetings, particularly leading up to the next grant competition, if requested by the Organizer. Winners may also be asked to present their Project at an event sponsored by the Organizer, for which reasonable travel and accommodation expenses will be covered.

8. Image Rights Authorization

8.1. Winners allow the Organizer to use (including the rights of reproduction, representation and adaptation) all of the attributes of the personality of the Winner, including, but not limited to, their image, voice, signature, family name and forenames, social media handles, professional titles, and affiliation (collectively, the "Image"), as well as any comments, opinions, interviews, writing and more generally all text that the Winner have realized, on a non-exclusive basis, free of charge, on all known or unknown media of the Organizer, in particular on Digital (such as Organizer’s website, LinkedIn, etc.), Press and RP media (including during congresses), for the purposes of publicity and promotion of the Grant and for all internal and/or external communication purposes, including institutional and/or corporate communication (including L’Oréal Group Annual or Activity Report as well as the L’Oréal Group’s US and/or foreign subsidiaries’ activity reports, greetings cards), for a period of three (3) years, starting from the date of first use of the Winners’ image, worldwide. This authorization includes the right of the Organizer to make any changes, additions (notably of any caption, comments, and/or illustrations), deletions, cropping, dubbing, etc., that are deemed necessary to the original fixation of the Winners’ Image, comments, opinions, interviews, or writings, provided that it does not cause harm to the attributes of their personality.

8.2. If applicable, Winners guarantee that the Organizer is duly authorized to cite their affiliation with their hospital, university, or other relevant institution.

8.3. The Organizer shall not use the Winner's Image for commercial purposes, particularly to directly or indirectly promote dermatological and cosmetic solutions manufactured and marketed by them.

8.4. All materials produced under this authorization remain the exclusive property of the Organizer.

8.5. Winners further agree to the publication of their Image, along with an abstract of their winning Project, on the Organizer's website. This publication will serve to announce the Winners and will remain on the website indefinitely as a historical record of the Grant program.

8.6. Winners understand that materials reproducing their Image may be difficult to remove from the Organizer's and/or L'ORÉAL Group's social media channels and sharing websites (such as Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Tumblr, YouTube, etc.), and agree that such materials may remain on these platforms as originally posted after the three (3) year period, provided the Organizer does not repost or authorize others to repost them.

9. Intellectual Property Rights

9.1. Winners and the Organizer shall remain the exclusive owners of their respective intellectual property rights, including all concepts, ideas, know-how, inventions, tools, techniques, documents, information, and so forth, which they own as of the effective date of the Grant. Neither party shall acquire any intellectual property rights or licenses to the other party's rights. Images, representative objects, trademarks, trade names, graphic and computer-generated elements, and the database comprising internet sites related to the Grant are the exclusive property of their respective owners and may not be extracted, reproduced, or used without prior written authorization. Any similarity between elements of this Grant and other companies’ existing grant programs is purely coincidental, and the Organizer shall not be held liable therefor.

9.2. Winners warrant that their Projects do not infringe any intellectual property rights, neighboring rights, or image rights of any third party. Winners agree to indemnify the Organizer against any third-party claims, complaints, or actions of any nature whatsoever related to such infringement.

9.3. Winners further grant the Organizer a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide right to use the content of their respective Projects, in whole or in part, on any media, for three years following the first use.

9.4. The Organizer is entitled to publish summaries, abstracts, and non-confidential aspects of the Winners' Projects on the Organizer’s professional website and in its archives, along with the Winners’ names, affiliations, the title of the Project, and the Organizer’s logo. Such content may remain publicly accessible indefinitely.

10. Personal Data

10.1. The personal data collected for the Applicant's participation to the Research Grants will be listed in the Applicable Privacy Policy.

10.2. The Organizer undertakes to adopt all useful measures to preserve the safety of the data and to prevent it from being communicated to unauthorized third parties.

10.3. Applicants may exercise their rights of access, rectification and opposition to data collection and processing by sending a written request to the Organizer at: [email protected].

11. Liability

11.1. The Organizer shall be liable for the delivery of the Awards actually and validly won, as well as the collection of the personal data.

11.2. The Organizer shall not be held liable in case of force majeure or unpredictable events beyond its control caused by a third-party. Furthermore, the Organizer shall not be held liable for any consequences affecting Applicants participation in the Grant if any information provided by the Applicant is incorrect, inaccurate, or incomplete.

11.3. The Organizer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with the Grant, including, without limitation, any loss of profit, revenue, or goodwill.

11.4. The Organizer does not warrant or guarantee any particular outcome for the Winners’ Projects.

12. Miscellaneous

12.1. The Organizer, at its sole discretion, may amend in whole or in part the Rules, at any time without any requirement other than the publication of the updated Rules on the website Rules & Conditions | Research Grants La Roche-Posay. Applicants are therefore advised to regularly consult the Rules.

12.2. The Organizer reserves the right to cancel the Grant at any time at its sole discretion without the Applicant being able to claim compensation thereof. Application to Research Grants cannot in any way be deemed to give rise to any contractual relations with the Organizer and in particular any employment rights.

12.3. If any provision of these Rules is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a competent authority, such provision shall be severed, and the remainder of the Rules shall remain in full force and effect.

12.4. No waiver of any right under these Rules shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such right or any other right hereunder.

13.3. All communication must be written in English.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

14.1. These Rules shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States.

14.2. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Rules shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the United States.

Example of Affidavit Regarding Prior Grant Funding

  • The research project titled "[Name of Project]" submitted to La Roche-Posay Research Grants has not received full grant funding from any source.
  • I understand that submitting false information may result in disqualification from the Grant.
  • I have read and agree to the Rules of the La Roche-Posay Young Investigator Grant.
